Benefits of Proper Heating Installation in Phoenix

Monday, January 28th, 2013

Are you considering a new heating system installation in your home? The Phoenix heating experts at Goettl Good Guys Air Conditioning can help you get the right system and prepare your home for the new installation. Whether you want us to install a new furnace, heat pump, dual fuel system, packaged heating and AC system, radiant heat systems, or zone control system, a proper heating installation in Phoenix will provide many benefits. Here are just a few of those benefits.

First, before the installation, a qualified contractor will ensure that your home is properly sealed and insulated. Without the right upgrades to your home, you may not get the most out of your new heating system. Not only will the system have to work harder to maintain comfortable temperatures, but you may also lose energy through air leaks, which won’t provide the ultimate amount of savings.  We offer blower door testing and other home energy services to help you prepare for a new installation.

Proper installation can also prevent repair needs. When a heating system is sized incorrectly or installed by an unqualified technician, it can cause problems down the road. A qualified technician will also make sure that you know how to properly operate your new heating system. This can save energy since setting back the thermostat on some systems, especially dual fuel systems, can actually be more expensive to operate.

Because any type of heating installation will determine how effective your new system heats your home, you should always hire a heating contractor you can trust. This will ensure proper sizing and installation, as well as proper ductwork design and installation. Your contractor should also ensure that you have a good ventilation system if you are choosing to install a gas furnace rather than an electric model.

For all your Phoenix heating installations, call Goettl Good Guys. We can handle all your local heating needs!

Low Air Flow

Low air flow is a problem that we see often in Phoenix. There are a few common causes of this problem.

  • Clogged air filter – Clogged air filters are by far the most common cause of furnace problems. The issue with low air flow happens when the filter isn’t changed and it gets clogged with dirt and dust.
  • Fan – The fan in your furnace or heat pump could also be broken which would mean that it isn’t pushing enough air through your ducts.
  • Blocked ducts – While not as common, you may have some kind of pinch or debris in your ducts that could be restricting the flow of air to your home.

No Heat or Not Enough Heat

This is another common heating problem in Phoenix. If you have no heat, it may be that the pilot light is out or that the thermocouple is malfunctioning. If your heating system isn’t producing enough heat, it could be that your thermostat is broken. It could also be that your air filter is clogged and is restricting the flow of hot air to your home.

Strange Sounds from My Heating System

If you have a forced-air system like a furnace, one of the most common sounds that we get called for is squealing. This is normally caused by an old fan belt. However, if you start to hear strange sounds coming from your gas-fired heating system, particularly rattling or rumbling sounds, you should call a heating contractor immediately. These can be indicators of very serious and even dangerous problems.

Check the Burner

If you have a gas-fired furnace or boiler you should check the burner to make sure that it isn’t dirty or clogged.

Check the Air Handler and Ducts

Check the air handler and ducts around your furnace or heat pump for dirt, dust or any blockages.

Check the Flue

The flue for your gas-fired furnace or boiler is responsible for safely exhausting the harmful combustion gases that result from burning fuel. Make sure the joints are sealed tightly and that there aren’t any leaks or cracks.
