Reasons to Install a New Heating System ASAP

Wednesday, March 12th, 2014

Spring in Paradise Valley is one of the finest times of the year, bringing a warm climate that hasn’t yet climbed to the summer sidewalk sizzle. Now is a good time to install a new heating system in your home if you think you need to replace your old one: you won’t have to worry about being stuck in the cold during the installation, and technicians will have more open schedules.

Do you have a reason to install a new heater? You might have a very urgent one: here are a few that should make you call up professionals like those at Goettl Good Guys Air Conditioning right away and discuss new heating installation in Paradise Valley, AZ. Our many decades of experience will make the installation smooth and quick.

Some Reasons to Replace Your Current Heater Right Away

  • Carbon monoxide leaks: If you have a natural-gas heater in your home, you want to make sure that it isn’t leaking carbon monoxide. Since CO is colorless and odorless, make sure you have detectors in your home. If the CO detectors alert you, leave your home and contact a heating contractor right away to see if your gas-powered heater is responsible. An old heater that leaks CO should be replaced immediately.
  • Continual loud noises from the cabinet: If your heater starts to make a constant racket as it runs, not just a single odd sound, then it’s probably on the verge of a complete breakdown that will require expensive repairs to fix—if it can be fixed at all. Call in professionals to assess if you need a replacement to head off a potential breakdown.
  • It costs too much to repair: Look over the bills for repairs to your heater over the last two years. If the cost per year to keep it running with repairs exceeds $500, you’re wasting money. Schedule a replacement right away before you have to call for repairs again.

You Don’t Need to Install the Same Type of System

Here’s something to keep in mind: when you replace your old heater, you can take the opportunity to change to a different type of heater. If you had a furnace, you can have installers easily hook up a heat pump to your existing ductwork. You might consider radiant floor heating if you want to plan to also do some house remodeling. Ask your contractor about some of the new possibilities for heating installation in Paradise Valley, AZ.

Give us a call today and talk to our experts at Goettl Good Guys Air Conditioning to learn more  about our many heating service options in Paradise Valley, whether you stay with the tried and true or want to try something new.

I’ve Heard About Boilers: Should I Consider One for My Phoenix Home?

Sunday, November 17th, 2013

Boilers are a common form of heating back east, using hot water run through a series of pipes to warm your home. The technology has been in use for some time and it remains a safe and efficient way to warm your home in some parts of the country. “I’ve heard about boilers: should I consider one for my Phoenix home?” It’s a valid question, and one that requires careful thought. The answer, however, is usually “no.” Phoenix AZ heating installation experts can explain why.

Boilers work with a very simple process. A series of burners heats water in a main chamber. The heat is then distributed throughout your home via a series of pipes, which cycle the hot water or steam through it. Boilers are useful because they distribute the heat very evenly and don’t create drafts or cold spots the way furnaces do, and they don’t cost much to run either.

Boilers tend to work best in areas with particular cold air and with fuel availability to match. In the Northeast, many boiler systems still operate via fuel oil, which we don’t see much of out here. Gas-heated boilers are more common, but they can’t match gas furnaces for efficiency, and the cost of installation is often much higher than it is for gas furnaces. Running those pipes in a modern home is inefficient and often cost prohibitive as well. The boiler’s pipes and radiators are more a staple of older homes, which Phoenix, as a more modern city, doesn’t usually feature.

In the briefest possible terms, boilers aren’t a good fit for a city such as ours. If you’re looking for an alternative to gas furnaces, then heat pumps and radiant heat systems prove far more efficiency than boilers, and can readily be installed by the experts at Goettl Good Guys. “I’ve heard about boilers, should I consider one for my Phoenix home?” If you’re asking that, then give us a call today. We handle Phoenix heating installation issues of all varieties and can provide numerous options that are appropriate to our area!
